Creator of ‘Spongebob Squarepants’ Reveals Diagnosis of Lou Gehrig’s Disease

Stephen Hillenburg, the creative mind behind the popular children’s character Spongebob, has recently shared the news that he has been diagnosed with ALS.

Not letting the bad news get to him he remains positive, vowing to continue his work on the show, along with his other creative endeavors, until he is no longer able to.

Originally created in 1999, Spongebob was created by Hillenburg based off of his experience of teaching marine biology.

We hope for the best with Hillenburg and that this affliction doesn’t get in the way of his amazing career.
